We are excited to announce that Laura Hilty and Joe Mather have joined HumanTrue as advisors. Their combined decades of experience across clinical trial technology, healthcare strategy, digital health, and pharmaceutical R&D will help guide HumanTrue as we continue to build tools that make clinical research faster, more efficient, and more human.

Laura Hilty

Laura Hilty

Laura brings 20 years of experience in healthcare technology, with leadership roles spanning corporate strategy, product management, and partnerships. She has launched technology products, led strategic acquisitions, and helped shape company growth strategies through two successful exits.

Laura currently serves as Chief Strategy Officer at IgniteData, where she is helping accelerate clinical research through real-time, secure transfer of clinical data between healthcare providers and life science companies. She is also a Principal at HealthX Ventures, a digital healthcare-focused venture capital firm investing in innovative companies making healthcare safer, more efficient, and more affordable.

Previously, Laura served as Vice President of Strategy at Advarra and spent over a decade at Forte Research Systems leading product management and strategy. She is active in the clinical research community as an Advisory Council member of the Cancer Center Informatics Society (Ci4CC) and a Steering Committee Member of the Innovation Gathering Network (which happens to be where we got to know Laura).

Joe Mather

Joe Mather

Joe is a global life sciences executive with more than 25 years of experience at Pfizer and AstraZeneca, where he led cross-functional programs spanning digital health, diagnostics, regulatory strategy, drug development and translational science. Throughout his career, he has specialized in translating emerging technologies into solutions that are clinically sound, operationally feasible, and regulatory-ready, across research, care delivery, and diagnostic development. Most recently, Joe served as Vice President and Head of Digital Science at Pfizer and Head of R&D at Lucira by Pfizer.

In these roles, he guided products from early design through market clearance, integrated digital endpoints into global clinical programs, and built the cross-functional infrastructure needed to advance digital medicine at scale. He currently advises digital medicine programs on PDURS development, regulatory strategy, usability evidence generation, and clinical trial operationalization.

Joe brings rare depth across the full ecosystem, from sponsor teams and regulators to academic partners and technology developers, with a track record of turning complex, data-driven science into viable healthcare solutions in regulated environments. Joe brings an existing relationship with HumanTrue: he and our co-founder Joan collaborated on AcRIS, a landmark study that used digital biomarkers to identify voice changes linked to viral infections like COVID-19 and RSV, as well as neurological conditions like Parkinson's disease.

What's Next

At HumanTrue, we are building AI-powered tools to transform clinical trial operations. Laura and Joe each bring a perspective that is deeply complementary to our mission. Laura from the technology, strategy, and venture side of clinical research, and Joe from decades inside the pharmaceutical companies that sponsor and run trials. Their guidance will help us stay grounded in the real challenges facing the industry as we continue to ship products that make a difference.

Welcome to the team, Laura and Joe!
